It’s already the 2nd of May – time is flying by! We arrived on Samos on April 22nd and were met at the airport by our friends M&F. They stayed until April 28th, and helped us repair the damage we soon discovered. Nalu was very likely indirectly hit by lightning, causing all sorts of electrical issues and frying our processors (leaving us without an autopilot and wind instruments for now). It’s been a busy, wonderful, frustrating and happy ten days .. But all in all, we’re happy with where we are and are planning to leave Samos.
We’ll do a video update on everything that happened soon – it’s been a lot! But for now, Nalu is fine, we’re fine and the weather is less so 😉 While our friends were here, it was lovely and sunny, but we couldn’t go sailing due to all the repairs. A planned 2 day trip to IkarÃa became a one hour sea-trail – but everything went well and we saw two dolphins near the boat, something that will never not be special.
Since they left, it’s been cold (seriously – we have all our blankets in use!), very windy and even raining (which is good, actually, because they really need the water). We’re waiting for a somewhat better weather window to leave Samos … And while we’re very ready and eager to start our journey home, it’s also bittersweet to leave the island where we bought Nalu, and the little town of Ormos Marathokampou which we have come to love.
Tonight we’re hoping to have dinner at Trata, my very favorite little restaurant, with our friends from sv Wanderlust who will also be leaving this weekend.
Head on over to our Patreon (you can join for free!) if you want to know when we upload our video update there. For now, we’ll leave you with these photo’s from our first week-and-a-half here:
